A lifetime of support for Saint Martin's

Mary Gentry

Mary Gentry has engaged with Saint Martin's in many ways over the years, including making a planned gift to the University.

Mary Gentry taught English and drama early in her career before she began practicing law with an emphasis on estate planning. In addition to her practice, Mary continued to teach, not only as a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars, but also as a business law professor at Saint Martin's University and a legal-writing professor at the University of Puget Sound and Seattle University. She retired in 2007.

Mary served numerous terms on the Saint Martin's University Board of Trustees. During her tenure, she was the chair of the board and was engaged with the life of the University through committee work, as well as serving on several administrative and academic leadership search committees.

In addition to her service at Saint Martin's, Mary currently sits on the boards of a local community bank and a land conservation organization. She also helped found "Soup Sisters," a group of women who convene monthly to support local causes. Each month they discuss what local charitable need has grabbed their attention and select a charity to collectively support.

Mary has made an unrestricted bequest of a percentage of her estate to Saint Martin's University and two other non-profits she has championed during her lifetime. "It's satisfying to know that even when I am no longer around to write a check, I can still support my favorite causes!"
