Couple's gift symbolizes their belief in Catholic education

Kathy and Gordon Beecher

Calling Saint Martin's her "happy place," Kathy Beecher and her husband, Gordon, created a gift in their will to support future students.

Kathy Beecher and her husband, Gordon, are champions for Catholic education. Gordon is currently the president of the Central Washington Catholic Foundation board of trustees. Kathy serves on Saint Martin's University's board of trustees, utilizing her expertise in human resources to support enrollment and student affairs; however, her relationship with the school began more than 15 years ago when their son began looking at colleges.

Kathy shares that when their son was looking at colleges, he felt like he'd arrived home upon visiting the Saint Martin's campus. He had struggled academically early in high school, but thrived at Saint Martin's and graduated with honors in computer science and a job offer at a top tech firm based on the East Coast.

Kathy says, "Saint Martin's is my happy place." Since her son graduated in 2008, she has continued to recruit students from his prep school in the Tri-Cities to attend Saint Martin's. "Saint Martin's is a place where students from even a small community and a small high school can flourish," she adds.

With their belief that Catholic education changes lives, Kathy and Gordon have earmarked a portion of their estate to come unrestricted to Saint Martin's as a gift in their will.

If you believe in the value of a Catholic education—and in Saint Martin's University—a gift in your will ensures that both will endure. To learn more, contact Nate Peters, MBA at NPeters@stmartin.edu or (360) 438-4367.
