Continuing the work of Saint Martin's

Jim Vosper

Jim Vosper has made giving a discipline. His gifts will ensure Saint Martin's University can continue its work for generations to come.

Jim Vosper, affectionately known as Scoop by his Saint Martin's classmates, is a historian and retired community college professor. In the mid-1980s, he began tithing 10% a month to his church or a favorite charity. Saint Martin's is one of those charities, and thus, he has earmarked 10% of his estate to come, unrestricted, to Saint Martin's University.

Jim advises, "I would encourage any alumnus or alumna to start giving, even a small amount, to help continue the work of the university. I have found what works for me is to make giving a discipline. We do not know the future, other than at some point we pass from this earth. I have made Saint Martin's University a beneficiary in my will, but not knowing what my financial condition will be down the road I also believe giving now in a consistent manner is also important."

In addition to being an annual donor, Jim has been an active volunteer and event attendee. He, along with two other alumni, helped establish the Father John Scott Scholarship Endowment. He also serves on the National Alumni Board, has been a class reunion representative and is a fixture at events on and off campus.

Jim has traveled to Washington D.C., Hawaii and Southern California to reconnect with classmates and meet new alumni.
