Giving back to her beloved alma mater

Bernie Determan-GriffinBernie Determan-Griffin '82 will be establishing a scholarship endowment through a bequest in her will. The endowment will honor her late brother, Leo Determan ’72, and provide student scholarship support in perpetuity.

“Saint Martin's provided me with the foundation upon which I built my life. I would not be the person I am today without the formative years I spent at my beloved alma mater,” shared Bernie. “By including Saint Martin's in my estate plans, I am able to give back to the University that gave me so much.”

Bernie is an involved alumna, serving as a member of the Saint Martin's University National Alumni Board and volunteering with the Saint Martin's Gala, the annual black-tie fundraiser for scholarships. Her first exposure to Saint Martin's was as a child, when she visited her older brothers who were attending the school. Those visits started a lifelong connection that her scholarship will preserve.

Professionally, Bernie is the managing director of the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle, WA. During her 20-year tenure, she has been committed to building The 5th into a national leader in the field of musical theater and a leading force in the region's vibrant theater scene.
