Gift of hope

As one who affectionately refers to himself as an “alumnus from both sides of the courtyard,” Andrew Moyer is a 1989 graduate of Saint Martin's University and a former member of Saint Martin's Abbey. Andrew currently serves as the Director of Fiscal Affairs and Real Estate for the Abbey.

Time and service, however, are not all that Andrew provides to Saint Martin's. “As a person of privilege, I have an opportunity and obligation to give back,” shared Andrew. Because of the generous Abbey endowment matching gift opportunity last year, Andrew committed a bequest of a percentage of his estate that will be matched by the Abbey, doubling the ultimate benefit of his future gift.

“My goal as a person with no children is to do something that will make a difference for those who’ve been marginalized,” Andrew said. The majority of his future bequest will help students majoring in English, with preference to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students. Ten percent also will be directed to support the needs of the facilities department, as Andrew worked closely with them on Abbey and University campus and building projects.
